Our Team

Karl is passionate about medical devices and an enthusiastic entrepreneur. He has many years of experience in the medical device industry with an emphasis on early stage start-up companies. He is co-founder of Protembis and has served as Co-CEO since 2013. Karl graduated from University of Mannheim and ESCP Business School where he received his M.Sc. degree.

Conrad builds companies. He has many years of experience in the start-up world and a strong background in funding companies. Before co-founding Protembis he was an M&A and debt advisor. Conrad serves as Co-CEO of Protembis since 2013. Conrad graduated from the University of Mannheim and ESCP Business School where he received his Dipl. Kfm. and M.Sc. degrees.

Oliver is a medtech industry veteran. He has over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining Protembis he co-founded CircuLite and developed the world’s first micro-pump for partial support of chronic heart failure patients. Oliver serves as CTO at Protembis since 2015. He graduated from RWTH Aachen University where he received his Dipl.-Ing. degree.

Stefanie feels her passion in efficient and robust quality and risk management systems, based on almost 25 years of experience in the medical device and pharma industry (e.g. Johnson&Johnson, Bayer). She realized EU and international market approvals for several medical devices as well as drug device products by full QM/RA base. Stefanie serves as Protembis QMB, Head of QM/RA since 2015. She graduated from the University of Halle where she received Dipl. Biochem. degree and from the University of Aachen, Germany where she received at Retina Implant project Dr.rer.nat. degree.

Nawzer has over 35 years of experience leading clinical research efforts, with experience in Class III device approvals in the US, EU, and China. Prior to joining Protembis, Nawzer held executive leadership positions at Lungpacer Medical, Olympus Respiratory, Claret Medical, Cardiac Dimensions, Medtronic Vascular and Biotronik. Nawzer has a PhD in Applied Cardiovascular Physiology from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London, and a BSc (Hons.) in Human Biology from the University of Surrey, England.

Since the mid 1990’s, James has worked both in corporate organizations (Medtronic, Guidant, Cordis and St Jude Medical), and several start-up companies. Most notably he was the Chief Commercial Officer of Claret Medical (acquired by Boston Scientific). With an extensive network in the interventional cardiology field, and demonstrated expertise in sales and strategic marketing, he is experienced in bringing novel technologies to global markets. He studied business management at the Kellogg Business School in Chicago, USA.
